​Founded in 1929 by Erik Nicolaysen II, Nicolaysen Agency has been THE hometown insurance agency for Chappaqua, NY for nearly 100 years, serving both personal and commercial clients.

Erik's son, Erik Nicolaysen III, went to work with his father after receiving an Engineering Degree at Rutgers University and serving the United States Army in Korea. Erik assumed managerial operations in 1970. In the mid-1970’s, Erik tore down the original building and put his engineering degree to work building the current office building in the same location.

Erik greatly expanded the agency during his tenure and he never lost sight of his father’s dedication to the community, the importance of exceptional service, and having a steadfast commitment to being “the” trusted local insurance professional.

Today, Erik’s grandson Bryan, now 12 years in the insurance industry, runs the day to day operations and has built a team that is taking the Agency to the next level. From technological upgrades to in-house builder/developers, Bryan has modernized operations while expanding expertise in high-value personal lines and specialty commercial coverage. This forward-thinking approach ensures we remain agile in a changing world, all while upholding the family values that have defined us for generations.
